FOLIO, 99 pgs., B/W Photos, Hardcover Hardcover: Faded purple cloth binding with title and design in gold on front board and on spine. All edges are rubbed and worn, lightly bumped. Corners are frayed. Previous owners impression and stamp on paste-down and free endpaper. Cracked hinges, but binding is still intact. Photos are printed on coated stock. Deckle-edges. Light finger soil. Thousands of years before the utilization of diamonds in the jeweller's art paste had been employed to reproduce all the precious stones, most of which were opaque, that were known to the ancients. Colourless paste is practically a modern invention.
