New charcoal colored endpapers. Occasional foxing. Contains 6 hand colored maps. Frontis map is partially detached. One panel is still bound in and the rest is laid in. Map is chipped and separating at folds. Map is entitled A MAP OF THE COUNTRY IN WHICH THE ARMY UNDER LT. GENERAL BURGOYNE ACTED IN THE CAMPAIGN OF 1777, SHOWING THE MARCHES OF THE ARMY & THE PLACES OF THE PRINCIPAL ACTIONS. Map 2 is entitled MAP OF THE DETACHMENT UNDER LIEUT. COL. BAUM AT WALMSCOCK NEAR BENNINGTON SHOWING THE ATTACK OF THE ENEMY ON THE 16TH AUGUST, 1777. This map is completely intact but for a quarter sized closed tear. Map 3 is entitled PLAN OF THE ENCAMPMENT AND POSITIONS OF THE ARMY UNDER HIS EXCELL. LT. GENERAL BURGOYNE AT SWORDS HOUSE ON HUDSON'S RIVER NEAR STILLWATER. Map is intact with a three inch closed tear and chipping along edges. Some foxing. Map 4 shows the PLAN OF THE ENCAMPMENT AND POSITIONS OF THE ARMY UNDER HIS EXCELL. LT. GENERAL BURGOYNE AT BREMUS HEIGHTS ON HUDSON'S RIVER NEAR STILLWATER. Has 3 inch closed tear with edgewear chipping and foxing. Map 5: PLAN OF THE POSITION WHICH THE ARMY UNDER LT. GEN.
