1 Coffin, Peter - Pseudonym for Jonathan Latimer THE SEARCH FOR MY GREAT-UNCLE'S HEAD
The Crime Club/Doubleday Doran Stated 1st, 1937 Good++, Good++
8VO, 297pgs. Hardcover. Plain green cloth boards with title on spine has light soil and edgewear. Boards lightly bowed. Endpapers foxed and lightly soiled. Text is clean, binding is tight. Occasional light foxing to text. Green dust jacket has edgewear chipping to edges, corners and spine ends. Two inch closed tear to top left corner. Rubbing to edges. Presentable in protective mylar. Peter Coffin is John Latimer's pseudonym. "The story is so full of unusual twists and episodes that it is impossible to mention them all in a brief space, but among the outstanding are a man who dances barefoot on the lake shore in the moonlight, a murder which involves chloroform, shooting and decapitation, a game known as Dr. Tutmiller's Abdominal Reduction Exercise, Lady Cleo, a very amiable cow, another decapitation, and a man who takes joy in throwing boiled chickens, pies and loaves of bread into the lake with the exclamation, 'There, eat that!' Peter Coffin, the young, rather pedantic professor of English who narrates the story, plays one of the responsible roles in the solution of the mystery, but it was the dilettantish Col. Black and the room littered with twenty-five pairs of trousers that brought about the true climax."
